LEGAL AGREEMENT

TERMS OF SERVICE

Effective August 23, 2026

These Terms govern use of The Verdict. The product is a fictional AI court for low-stakes disagreements. It is not a court, law firm, arbitration service, mediation service, or substitute for legal advice.

SECTION 1

Eligibility and acceptance

By creating an account, joining a case, filing testimony, voting, or otherwise using The Verdict, you agree to these Terms. You must use the service only where you are legally permitted to do so and must provide information you are authorized to submit.

SECTION 2

Low-stakes use only

The Verdict is intended for ordinary, non-emergency, low-stakes interpersonal disagreements. Do not use it to decide or manage matters involving immediate danger, abuse, threats, self-harm, criminal conduct, child safety, medical decisions, legal rights, immigration, housing rights, employment rights, financial obligations, or other matters where a fictional automated ruling could cause serious harm. The service may decline to rule on content it classifies as outside the intended scope.

SECTION 3

Automated rulings

Rulings are generated by automated systems from the testimony submitted in a case. An automated ruling may be incomplete, inaccurate, inconsistent, or unsuitable for a real-world decision. A ruling has no legal force, does not create legal rights or obligations, and should not be treated as professional advice or an authoritative factual determination.

SECTION 4

Testimony, evidence, and sealed content

Participants are responsible for the testimony and files they upload. Do not submit material you do not have permission to share. During the filing stage, testimony is designed to remain sealed from the opposing participant. Reciprocal disclosure is limited by the case workflow, and safety-declined cases may keep opposing testimony sealed rather than reveal it after a decision.

SECTION 5

Publication consent and privacy consent

The Verdict uses two separate consent systems. Case-publication consent controls whether an anonymized version of a specific case may enter the public courtroom and requires the configured bilateral publication workflow. Privacy and measurement consent controls optional cookies, analytics, advertising measurement, and related browser privacy choices through ConsentLayer. Accepting privacy or measurement consent never authorizes publication of a case, and granting publication consent never authorizes tracking or marketing measurement. Public case records are intended to contain an anonymized, limited representation of the case rather than the private case record. You should still avoid including unnecessary identifying or sensitive information in testimony because no anonymization process should be assumed to eliminate every re-identification risk.

SECTION 6

Community voting

Visitors may be able to vote on published rulings, including whether a ruling appears fair or should be appealed. Community voting reflects user opinion only. It does not overturn, modify, or validate the underlying automated ruling and is not a legal judgment.

SECTION 7

Accounts and security

You are responsible for maintaining control of your account and authentication credentials. Do not share case invitation credentials publicly unless you intend an eligible person to claim them. If you believe your account or a case credential has been compromised, stop using the affected credential and use the available recovery or credential-rotation controls.

SECTION 8

Acceptable use

You may not use The Verdict to harass, threaten, stalk, impersonate, dox, defraud, exploit, or unlawfully monitor another person; upload malicious code; bypass access controls; manipulate voting or case state; scrape private records; or interfere with service availability. Attempts to access another participant's sealed or private information are prohibited.

SECTION 9

Data handling

The service processes account identifiers, case records, testimony, uploaded evidence references, consent state, public-case records, votes, settings, and operational records as needed to provide its features. Product controls may allow certain records to be archived, restored, published, or otherwise managed. Availability of deletion, export, or retention controls depends on the features provided in the service and any applicable legal obligations.

SECTION 10

Service changes and availability

Features, automated models, limits, and workflows may change. The service may be unavailable, delayed, or interrupted. The operator may restrict or suspend access when necessary to protect users, investigate abuse, maintain system integrity, or comply with legal obligations.

SECTION 11

Disclaimers

The service is provided on an "as available" basis to the extent permitted by law. No guarantee is made that an automated ruling, community vote, case summary, or generated text is accurate, complete, fair, or appropriate for a particular purpose. You remain responsible for decisions you make outside the product.

SECTION 12

Changes to these Terms

These Terms may be updated as the product changes. A revised effective date should be posted when material changes are made. Continued use after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Pre-launch legal review

These product-facing Terms describe the current application behavior but should be reviewed by qualified counsel before a commercial or high-volume launch, particularly for jurisdiction-specific privacy, consumer-protection, and dispute-resolution requirements.
